Feeling Down? A Heart of Thanks Is a Heart of Hope

I find especially in the winter, I begin to feel blah, down in the dumps, like I am in a rut. Who else can stop these feelings but yourself. However, you need to have faith. Many people will just say, "snap out of it" or " you just need a change" How many people will tell you to pray on it?
Why art you cast down,O my soul?...Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.
Psalm 42:5
It doesn't matter how bad life becomes, we must remember we always have blessing for which we can thank God. Today I want you to think of all the things you are thankful for. In this really bad economy, things sure are looking down. The recent plane crash in Buffalo. Many people have lost loved ones. There are times to mourn, however God wants us to rejoice in what we have. The more we fill our hearts with the sunshine of thanks, the less room there is for the gloom of despair.
It is difficult at times, I know. However the most thankful thing we have to look forward to as Christians is knowing that we are going to Heaven, in spite of our sins.
God shows us in many many ways His love. In the form of our family , our friends, our fellow believers. Keep your spiritual eyes and ears open and you will find the gift of His word to guide you.
Give thanks and you will find yourself lifed up in hope.

I will be first to comment. I am thankful for my family. Our health. The food on our table and the clothes on our backs. I am thankful that I am continuing to be able to take care of children who need a safe, loving home.

Boy did I need this post! What a beautiful blessing tonight for me to see this :)
I am thankful for my mostly healthy children, my loving and forgiving husband, my parents, who are always supportive, my church and my God.

Even though we already know it, it's great to have reminders.

God used you to remind me today.

God bless and have a great weekend.

What a neat blog! Thanks for the reminder that we need to be thankful in all circumstances. God is still God, and He is good ALL the time.

I love the song by Lincoln Brewster (I think?) that is out now, called "Everlasting God." Part of the lyrics describing God say "you do not faint; you won't grow weary." How awesome to remember that we serve a God who will never tire and never sleep.

Happy weekend all!

We talked a lot about faith in church yesterday, and it helped me feel at peace. This is such a time of turmoil we must have faith that God is in control.

So true, Renee. When we take the time to Praise God and be thankful for His blessings, life's perspective is always better.

I'm soooo thankful for a Heavenly Father who loves us!
